The Nominees Are In! May the Best Man Win!

The Nominees Are In!

We put out the call, and you answered! We wanted to give away a special 60 minute 4-Hand massage with aromatherapy and host stone spot treatment enhancements to a very special man chosen by you, our clients and friends. We wish we could have put more men up for a vote on this. Whomever is the lucky guy to win this prize, we’re grateful for all the great guys in our lives who quietly hold the world together without a boast, without asking for a word of thanks, and who’d blush to be recognized. We see you. We appreciate you.

Read the nominations below carefully! They’re in the words of loved ones who know them best. Think it over. But don’t think about it too long. Cast your vote on the poll on our Facebook page before June 14, 2018.
May the best man win!

I would like to nominate my husband, Steven Haase, to win the Fathers Day massage. He is so supportive and such a hard worker, he deserves it!

We met five years ago through a mutual friend. We fell in love quickly and I was sure he was The One only weeks into our relationship!

Let me tell you, chivalry is not dead with him. To this day, he still holds doors open for me, opens the car door for me, tells me how much he loves me and says how beautiful I am every day. He makes me feel so special!
We recently had our first baby in February. While I was pregnant, I had morning sickness for seven months! He always would hold my hair back and say something soothing. I would nap on the couch, falling asleep to Harry Potter DVDs and he would change out the DVDs once one movie ended while I was still sleeping. He helped with the chores and always made sure I was as comfortable as possible. He cooks dinner and makes sure that I get something healthy (meat protein and veggies. I don’t cook). Once having our baby, his continued support is still strong! He was able to take paternity leave with me for two months. He is such a good father, I as a mommy, look to him because he is a natural.

He deserves this massage and I hope he wins! I can’t say enough good things about my best friend, husband, and partner in crime for the rest of my life.

My husband Robert is so selfless. He married into a remodel of my 111 year old home. His honey-do list has been unending, and he tackles every project with enthusiasm and craftsmanship. He suffers with back problems, yet endured the pain to achieve our dream home. He is always readily available for our blended family, and has embraced my children as his own. Robert truly deserves the incredible massages you provide.

Best of luck to both these good men!

Choose the good life.

Check Out Our New Logo!

As you may or may not have noticed, The Good Life Massage has a new logo!

This was designed in-house, and we couldn’t be more proud of it. Over the past several months, it has been appearing on almost everything associated with GLM, including our in-house skincare products, our gorgeous new lighted sign on the front of the building, this blog, our social media posts, and our business cards.

Why a waterfall?
Falling water represents abundance- an overflow of that which gives life. It’s a symbol of what we try to bring to every massage session and every interaction we have with our guests. The waterfall is a symbol of what we’re here to do: to promote your wellness in mind, body, and spirit.

But there’s also a story behind it…
Our founders, Amy Gunn and Kylee Davis, each began their own separate massage practices before teaming up. Their partnership grew out of the fact that they shared rent on a massage room, and found that they made a good working team.

When they officially decided to become partners and build a business together, compromises were made. The new business would keep the name of Kylee’s clinic, The Good Life Massage, while the new business’s logo and prevailing image in marketing would be Amy’s waterfall. The indoor fountain you see in our clinic today is one she used in private practice to create natural white noise during massages.

We’re so excited that we have this elegant symbol to represent what our customers mean to us, and the kind of benefit we hope to provide for every guest.

Traffic Advisory: Be Prepared!

Major Road Closure
It’s not often that we have news to report here on the GLM blog, but whether you’re a new client or a faithful regular, you need to be aware of a traffic situation in Renton.

For those of you who take Logan Ave from I-405, you need to be aware that southbound Logan Avenue is closed and detoured. To get to GLM, you’ll have to take an alternate route around Logan Ave. The closure is expected to last through next summer.

The simplest, if not the fastest way to get around the closure is to take I-405 to Rainier Avenue. Follow Rainier Avenue North for a mile and turn right on South Tobin.

For those more prone to take their chances Renton surface streets:

From Exit 5 on I-405, go west on Sunset, turn right on Park Avenue North, turn right on Bronson Way, take another right on South 2nd Street, another right on South Logan, then left onto South Tobin.

We’re sorry for the hassles, and we wish we could just make it all go away.

We can’t fix the traffic, but we can at least help with some of the ways your body reacts to it.

Coconut Oil Health Hacks: A Peek at What You Missed

The Good Life Massage put on a class on the evening of Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at our new location on 200 South Tobin in Renton. This was our first event in our new location. It was great to have so many people come out and experience an event in our new space for the first time.

Owner-operators Kylee Davis and Amy Gunn were on hand to demonstrate and discuss the many uses of coconut oil as a natural moisturizer and cleanser, as well as it’s uses for better health and nutrition.

Several of our products use coconut oil including …

These and other can be found on our products page or through our Etsy shop.

Kylee and Amy have both used coconut oil for years, both in their massage practice and at home for personal use.

One of the more unusual uses of coconut oil covered in the class was oil pulling: the practice of using pure coconut oil as a mouthwash, swishing for about five minutes a day as part of your oral hygiene regimen.

Oil pulling is a great way to keep your mouth clean and your teeth strong and healthy

“Oil pulling seems kind of strange at first. You might think it would make you want to gag or something, but it’s actually not bad. There’s no flavor, good or bad. But it’s really good for your teeth and the health of your mouth overall. It’s a great way to supplement your regular oral hygiene in a natural way,” Amy said.

Registered students went home with a free goodie bag that included …

  • a tub of coconut oil with applicator sticks
  • Moisture Mask sampler
  • Eye Cream sampler
  • Lip Balm sampler

… a package valued at more than $10

Class participants went home with some awesome swag!
